Created by the Warner Brothers and opened on July 19, 1972 in West Milford, NJ Jungle Habitat was a walk through and drive through animal themed park. It featured a drive through safari section that had two trails, the lion and tiger trail, which allowed for animals to roam free and approach vehicles. Some of which were giraffes, lions, tigers, bears, peacocks, baboons, camels, etc. Once you had driven through the trails you could park your car and go through Jungle Junction, the walk-through theme park. It included many attractions such as a gift shop, petting zoo, camel ride, elephant ride, safari car ride, zebra go round, snack huts, a restaurant, etc.
Jungle Habitat had plans to expand in 1976; however, residence nearby were against it. Great Adventure had also created a drivable safari and were pulling customers towards their park. Due to these factors the park officially closed on October 31, 1976 leaving it abandoned. In 2007 a big cleanup of the grounds was done and trails were created for hiking and biking with only a few remains left of the park left behind.
The pictures captured by me in this section were taken with a Canon 70D and iphone at a couple different times.
